*This extract is produced from unsprayed crops - meaning that it is organically grown but not certified.

The mesmerizing, exotic aroma of vanilla is coveted worldwide due to its warm, rich fragrance that seems to just melt away the worries of the day. The intensity of Vanilla's calming effect stands heads and shoulders above the others.

A little goes such a long way here. Vanilla Oleoresin is a fantastic addition to body care and hair care products, soaps, lotions, and other aromatherapy products. Oh, and especially perfumes!

Because Vanilla is so thick, you may need to choose a warming method in order to extract it from the bottle.  See our warming methods and our infusion recipe in the "Uses" tab below.

We do include a bulb dropper with your purchase of this product.

Uses

    Warming Methods:

    Rice Warming:

      • Place about a cup of rice into a bowl and microwave it until it's nicely warmed (about a minute should be just right).
      • Stir the rice well.
      • Wrap your bottle of Vanilla in a single layer of a washcloth or towel of medium thickness and place it in the bowl of rice to warm.
      • Let it remain in the rice until it has thinned and is pourable.

    Water Bath Warming:

      • Before you begin, you will want to ensure that water cannot seep into your bottle in any way.  Place your Vanilla into a small Ziploc bag and seal it well.
      • Make sure that the bottle stays upright and place it in a small (8oz) Mason jar.
      • Place the jar in a pan of warm water.
      • Allow the Vanilla to warm for about 15 minutes, give or take a few, until it reaches a thinner, more pourable state. (Be sure to replace the warm water as it evaporates.)
      • The time it takes to reach a pourable consistency will be determined by how solid (or cold) it was when you began.

Because Vanilla Oleoresin is soluble in water and alcohol (not in oil), we have found that infusing it into jojoba (which is not an oil, but a wax) is the most effective way to use it.

    Infusion Recipe:

    • Add two to three milliliters of Vanilla Oleoresin to four ounces of jojoba.
    • Cover tightly with a lid and allow to sit for four to six weeks.
    • Pour jojoba from the infusion bottle into a new bottle.  Vanilla will remain in the bottom of the initial bottle.
    • This infusion is a fantastic ingredient for use in aromatherapy blends.

Vanilla Infusions blend beautifully in recipes for:

    • Body Care Products: butters, lotions, scrubs, etc.
    • Hair Care Products
    • Perfume
    • Soap
        Applications

        Topical:

Ok for children 2 with proper dilution.

Pregnancy and lactation safe with extra dilution.

        Inhalation:

Before using in a diffuser, add a small amount to a couple of ounces of water in a glass.  After it dissolves, add this vanilla-water to your diffuser and diffuse as normal. Be advised that it may stain the inside of the diffuser due to its dark color.

        Internal:

This Vanilla Oleoresin is suitable for food/baking purposes.  But remember, a little dab'll do ya!  Try inserting the tip of a toothpick into the bottle of Vanilla and then transferring it to your recipe.  That will prevent you from overdoing it!

Although the quality of Selah Oils is excellent, it is not advised to take essential oils internally unless under the guidance of a certified physician who is also certified in aromatherapy. We recommend getting internal dosing instructions from a licensed physician as some essential oils are not recommended for oral consumption. This is in no way a reflection on our oil quality, only a matter of safety and caution with respect to how concentrated essential oils are. When used within safe parameters, and under your physician's care, the quality of our essential oils is such that they can be used internally if deemed appropriate.

However, with that said, it is important to remember the extreme concentration of essential oils. "Using essential oils by rubbing them into the skin or via inhalation is in many cases more effective than oral delivery" (Schnaubelt 96).

All cautions listed for individual oils do not include those cautions from ingestion.

All cautions listed for individual oils do not include those cautions from ingestion. It is not advised to take essential oils internally unless under the guidance of a licensed physician who is also certified in aromatherapy.

If for any reason you get essential oils in your eyes, put carrier oil along the eyebrows above the eyes and on the cheekbones below the eyes.

Do not put essential oils inside your ear canal.
